Turkey Bombings: 44 people dead 568 held in detention

SITUATION

A car bomb and suicide bomber following the Turkish Super League match detonated and killed 44 people dead and leaving 149 injured as of the last tally, on Saturday 10th, December 2016 near the Vodafone stadium, Istanbul. Among the fatalities include 36 police officers and 8 civilians.

TAK, Kurdish: Teyrêbazên Azadiya Kurdistan (Kurdistan Freedom Falcons, also known as Kurdistan Liberation Hawks) an offshoot of the PKK, Partiya Karkerên Kurdistanê (Kurdistan workers party) claimed responsibility for the attack, as reported by BBC.

In a statement on Sunday, TAK said the bombings were in reprisal for the attacks in South-Eastern Turkey and the indefinite imprisonment of their leader Abdullah Ocalan.

As a result, Turkey police has since rounded up about 568 members of the PKK in 28 cities on terrorism related charges, according to Reuters. Among those detained by Istanbul police and the southern city of Adana include 45 provincial officers from the HDP -Halkların Demokratik Partisi (pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party). HDP which is the second largest opposition party was accused by President Tayyip Erdogan of links to PKK, although the party denied the allegation.

CHALLENGE

On Monday, the Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu vowed that those responsible for the attacks on Saturday will be “wiped from this geography” reverberating promise of revenge on the Kurdish militants.
The President who is experiencing quite a tumultuous year and recently surviving a coup attempt also resounded, terrorism will be crushed.

How does government plan on crushing or wiping out the so called scourge of terrorism from its territory? Is right to annihilate every protester on the suspicion of terrorism? Or are the statements just another government rhetoric?

WHY BRAIN FINGERPRINTING

While we do not see the humane or moral justification for a government to exterminate an entire segment or group of people in a bid to bring 1 – 3 or a hand full of people to justice; Brain Fingerprinting technology offers a unique solution to the Turkish government.

Brain Fingerprinting can be used to in this case for the huge suspect line up to quickly determine involvement in the terror attack or not, preventing the needless loss of lives, unnecessary incarceration, and unforeseen unintended consequences to national security and regional stability.

In terms of cost, Brain Fingerprinting will effectively and efficiently save the Turkish government millions of dollars in terms of investigative, imprisonment, judicial and administrative cost.

Brain Fingerprinting is the latest and most advanced investigation and intelligence gathering tool that can help law enforcement and government security agencies prevent or determine suspect involvement in a crime. It is non-invasive and does not violate human rights.

The Turkish government can deploy the use of this Brain Fingerprinting technology to conduct its investigations and intelligence gathering in a humane manner without the need to resort to excessive force, expensive processes and unintended consequences that may take decades to resolve.
