JeM plan to attack on Indian Independence Day

In a joint operation, Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and West Bengal Police arrested two Bangladeshi terrorists associated with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Noida on Tuesday. Their arrest occurred just three weeks before the Independence Day celebrations at the historic Red Fort from where India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation.
The arrested terrorists identified as Musharraf aka Musa, and Rubel Ahmed, both Bangladeshi nationals. According to Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh, Musharraf and Rubel were planning to carry out a major terror attack in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Independence Day.
West Bengal police will hold them on transit remand for further investigation, the DGP said. “A team of UP ATS will also interrogate them to extract more information” he said. ATS can make more revelations only after interrogation, officials said.
High Alert has been announced in the national capital ahead of India’s Independence Day on August 15. Intelligence agencies have warned of a terror attack planned by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) ahead of the Independence Day.
The information was revealed by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists Syed Muneer-ul-Hassan Qadri, Ashiq Baba and Tariq Ahmad Dar, who were recently arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for their role in the Nagrota Army camp attack in 2016 that killed seven Indian soldiers.
During interrogation, the counter-terror probe agency found out that JeM has been sending its trained agents, which mostly include misguided Kashmiri youth, under different appearances such as a plumber.
