September 22, 2018: Turkish prosecutors issued 110 warrants, 85 military personnel detained over Gulen association

Situation: According to media reports, Turkish police has detained 85 military personnel in raids across the country over alleged links to the group blamed for the 2016 failed coup. Prosecutors in Ankara issued arrest warrants for 110 active duty personnel in the air force, state-run news agency Anadolu reported. The raids were part of a probe into followers of US-based Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen, who denies involvement in the coup. Shooting in Syracuse, NY: 5 injured, including children, 8 and 14

SITUATION According to police, 5 people were shot during a night memorial service in Syracuse, upstate New York. Among the victims were 2 children, an 8-year-old and 14-year-old. Emergency services raced to the crime scene on Midland Avenue shortly after 9.00PM local time where they found 5 people with gunshot wounds. Witnesses said that around 50 people had gathered outside a house to commemorate the death of a relative who had died several days ago. When shots broke out, the neighbors ran into the house. Situation: The Syrian citizen and resident of Cyprus, a man named Ahmed H., was convicted of terrorism for threatening border police during a riot in November 2016. Ahmed H. was arrested along with 10 other people in connection with a protest at the Hungarian-Serbian border on September 16, 2015, which resulted in the injury of over 100 civilians, many of them refugees, as well as 15 to 20 police officers. SITUATION Honolulu police wants to reduce property crimes and violent crimes, starting with multiple arrests in Chinatown.
