SITUATION A well-known Afghan television journalist was shot dead in broad daylight in Kabul over the weekend, prompting an outcry from women's rights advocates. Mina Mangal, who worked for several Afghan television channels and later became an adviser in Afghanistan's parliament, was apparently en route to work early Saturday morning when she was attacked. SITUATION Chinese nationals were once again the intended target in Baluchistan as Baloch Liberation Army on Sunday attacked a five-star hotel in Gwadar and killed five. The attack and subsequent siege, which targeted the top Hotel in the strategic port city of Gwadar, lasted several hours. SITUATION Turkish security forces on Friday arrested 45 people for their alleged links to Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the terror group behind the 2016 defeated coup in Turkey, judicial sources said. Earlier, Izmir’s Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office had issued arrest warrants for 20 suspects, including 17 on-duty soldiers, as part of a probe of infiltration of the Turkish Armed Forces by the terror group.
