Humanitarian Crisis: Has Italy’s far-right Government gone too far?
January 24, 2019 | Brainwave Science
At Castelnuovo di Porto migrant Center, more than 500 refugees have been forcibly removed from this second-largest refugee camp in Italy as part of the populist government’s ongoing crackdown on immigration. The majority of the 540 people at Castelnuovo are asylum seekers who will be transferred to other Centres across Italy. A security decree passed by the government last month seeks to drastically reduce the number of migrants receiving “humanitarian protection” and makes it easier to expel them. According to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR), at least 10 people among those who were evicted from Castelnuovo di Porto have been stripped of their humanitarian protection status in the aftermath of the law. The move by the government has been criticized by many because of the presence of the police and the army with barely 48 hours of notice and no prior coordination with the local authorities or the organizations responsible for running the Centre. In some cases, the evacuation was immediate with no prior notice given to some of the migrants. Some migrants chose to leave the Centre of their own accord and were seen heading to Rome, where many asylum seekers end up living in squats and abandoned buildings.
The man who is considered as an architect and an ardent supporter of the movement against migrants is Italy’s interior minister and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini. He defended the eviction, arguing that a drop in arrivals had freed places in other Centers across the country.
“It is a question of common sense and good administration that will save Italians six million euros a year, without taking away the rights of anyone,” Salvini told a local radio station. Salvini as a leader of the far-right Lega (League) party, claimed that the center had become a haven for drug-dealing and crime. He has promised that the removed migrants will be sent to other “beautiful places.”
European Union and especially countries like Italy, Germany, France, and Greece have been at the forefront of what has now been called the biggest migration crisis Europe has ever seen. Few topics have been as divisive in Europe as the question of what to do with the flood of migrants arriving on the shores of the Mediterranean. European Migration Crisis has led to widespread political opposition from far-right groups and organizations that share the feeling across the European Union that migrants coming in hundreds of thousands to shores of Europe pose an imminent threat to the economic as well as socio-political makeup for each of these nations. The EU and its member states continue efforts to prevent arrivals and outsource responsibility for migration control to countries outside the EU. In Libya, the EU is pursuing a containment strategy in cooperation with their authorities, despite overwhelming evidence of pervasive abuse against asylum seekers and other migrants arbitrarily detained in Libya.
This pushback against migrants has become a phenomenon that has divided European people into factions. A streamlined means of vetting and specifically screening arriving migrants into refugees, asylum seekers, migrants helps reduce the current chaos that pervades in Europe.
European Union needs a humane solution to deal with this crisis the likes of which humanity has never seen before. How can the European Union come up with sensible asylum policies that strike a balance? They cannot ignore Europe’s ethical foundations, but they also cannot ask too much of the European people. Humanitarian Crisis
How can the EU enact sensible asylum policies that respect human rights and dignity of migrants, how can they be sure that the masses landing on their shores are not criminals and gang members trying to sneak into European Union disguised as migrants? Can Immigration authorities along with global organizations like UNHCR bring forth a method that can assure the Italian government that the safety and security of their citizens are not threatened by migrants? Is there a technological solution that can accelerate the rate of screening of refugees so that backlogs that have been in the country since 2015 can be finally cleared? Humanitarian Crisis
Specific Screening of migrants using a technological advancement called iCognative can play a pivotal role as a part of the solution to this challenging problem. Brainwave Science is a US company that has developed this revolutionary iCognative technology with a vision to deliver truth and justice that eliminates human suffering and torture in the process of interrogation and investigations for Immigration and Control officials in Italy as well as other member nations in the EU. Humanitarian Crisis
In order to address concerns of people like Italy’s interior minister and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, iCognative technology must be introduced as a specific screening protocol for all seekers of asylum or refugee status in the European Union. Italian authorities can use Brain Fingerprinting test to determine if any migrant has any plans to carry out harm against their nation’s security and hurt innocents. Security experts agree that the biggest challenge of mass immigration is the ability to screen out malefactors at the point of arrival. The current biometric systems used at the borders, such as retinal scan and fingerprints can only go so far. When documents are missing, or prior biometric information of the person is missing, the current systems can’t provide efficient and clear intelligence. iCognative technology by Brainwave Science addresses this problem head-on. Humanitarian Crisis
iCognative specific screening test can be conducted on any person of interest to investigators. Case investigation details such as reports of suspicious movements, reports from classmates of change in behavior, specific codes used for communications, misleading information submitted to Italian Authorities and Federal police, residence pictures and contacts in other countries that are collected by intelligence agencies, etc. can be used as the stimulus for conducting the test. When these details in the form of words, phrases or images are flashed on a monitor the brain of the person will reveal whether that specific information that would otherwise be known only to a sympathizer of a specific organization or gang cannot be hidden. Humans lie, brains don’t. With iCognative by Brainwave Science investigators can scientifically, accurately, and objectively detect what a person knows or does not know regarding a crime, specific training or expertise, or other information of interest. Humanitarian Crisis
iCognative scientifically, accurately, and objectively detects what an asylum applicant knows or does not know regarding a crime, specific training or expertise, or other information of interest. With the power of Brainwave Science’s iCognative, specific screening Italian authorities, along with other European nations, that share the anxiety about migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers can rest assured that people who are granted legal rights to enter their country have been properly vetted and are not criminals or terrorists.
iCognative by Brainwave Science is a revolutionary forensic tool that, when used by border agents, immigration officers and customs officials, can determine whether or not the immigrant is entering with harmful or malevolent intent. As a result, it is a huge step forward in preventing terrorist or national security threats.
