Mysterious ‘Hercules’ vigilante kills 3 suspected Rapists in Bangladesh: Brainwave Science

SITUATION

Bangladesh Police officers are reportedly hunting a suspected serial killer who identifies himself as ‘Hercules’ and has been targeting and killing accused rapists in the country. Bangladesh police have found three corpses of alleged rapists over the last two weeks with notes hanging around their necks.

According to the investigators, police believe the same person had killed all the accused rapists as all the murders bore similarities including the notes hanging around their necks. The recent case on February 1, Bangladesh police found the body of a recent accused rape suspect, who sustained bullet wounds to the head, with a similar note hanging around his neck.

The Note, drafted in Bengali, recovered from the crime scene read, “I’m Rakib. I am the rapist of a madrasa girl of Bhandaria. This is the consequence of a rapist. Be aware rapists. Hercules.”

The victim accused in the note had alleged two assailants- Rakib Hossain and Sajal, of gang-raping her when she was on her way to her grandparents’ home on January 14. Law enforcement discovered the body of second accused rapist, Sajal, in a last week of January with a similar note around his neck, before the police officer could investigate the case properly and determine the perpetrators.

Jahidul Islam, the police spokesperson and officer-in-charge, said the police are still investigating the murders but so far remain clueless about the identity of Hercules.

According a senior police officer, Sajal’s father lodged a police complaint over his son’s murder and the rape victim’s father has been named as prime accused in the case. In another case that occurred on January 17, police recovered the body of Ripon, another accused rapist, with a note around his neck, similar to the ones found on Sajal and Rakib’s corpses. Family members of accused rapists also believe that police might be involved in extrajudicial killing. Members said before they were found dead, they had been picked up by plain-clothed people who identified themselves as members of detective branch (DB) of police. However, police denied the possibility that the DB or other law enforcement agencies had any role in the murder.

The suspected serial killer is being hailed a hero and showered with praise on the internet. Some social media users even suggested the man should come to countries like India and Pakistan to tackle the country’s rampant rape and sexual harassment problem.

CHALLENGE

Human Right activist Nur Khan Liton stated that there has been an alarming rise of rape cases in the Bangladesh especially during recent general election, a total of 732 women and 444 minors were raped last year. Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF), an NGO, stated that “as many as 28 children are murdered and 49 raped in Bangladesh every month.”

According to United Nations Human Rights Council special report, rape is the second-most common form of assault against females in Bangladesh, but victims rarely go to the police for justice. Nur Khan reports that victims of such horrifying crime find it extremely hard to seek justice through the legal system in Bangladesh. 80 percent of rape cases, which are recorded, are still pending because law enforcement agencies fails to obtain substantial evidence or intelligence during the investigation of these complex cases, even with the existing investigative tools at their disposal. The rise of the vigilante ‘Hercules’ has turned into the biggest test for the law enforcement personnel as it showcases the deficiency of government and law enforcement agencies to provide justice to the victims at a global level.

When law enforcement and legal system fails to provide justice to the victims at the appropriate time and protect innocents from criminals then country witness a boost in extrajudicial killings. Bangladesh has a long-tainted record of extrajudicial killings. As social media users showered praise, it has become a biggest challenge for law enforcement personnel to investigate this case, verify the involvement of law enforcement and identify ‘Hercules’ before he/she gains more popularity within the country and become a role model for youngsters who could follow the same path to defeat injustice.

The Human Right activists have criticized Bangladesh government under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for a rising number of extrajudicial killing and neglecting to control such activity. In this case, the activists have demanded that the government should launch proper investigations to probe these murders and No one should be allowed to be killed extrajudicially.

WHY BRAIN FINGERPRINTING?

As stated by Human Right activists to prevent extrajudicial killing and provide speedy justice to rape victims, convictions are required. It is understood that for conviction, strong evidence is required and to obtain evidence, precise investigation is mandatory. The existing conventional investigative tools preferred by law enforcement agencies in above cases are time-taking process and do not provide beneficial results due to sabotaged evidence. Storage and preservation of DNA evidence and timely collection of fingerprints for events is a known challenge.

Hercules case demonstrates exactly why law enforcement agencies desperately need to look for an alternative method or process to identify the perpetrators including the mysterious Hercules in a short time period before more such examples of extrajudicial killing become a nightmare for police officers. In order to crack these complex cases open, a non-intrusive, accordable and efficient technology with nearly perfect accuracy is desperately needed by Bangladesh Police to maintain the trust of the citizen on law and order. Brainwave Science has unveiled the most revolutionary technology of this century that enables law enforcement personnel to determine who the perpetrator of a crime is, by matching information of the crime scene directly from an infallible witness- the human brain with over 99% accuracy without necessity of physical evidence and it’s called Brain Fingerprinting. This technology is the only available hope for law enforcement agencies to find substantial evidence that can help deliver justice and prevent extrajudicial killing.

Bangladesh law enforcement agencies can utilize Brain Fingerprinting technology in such crucial cases like ‘Hercules’ where murders in the name of providing justice, as promoted and praised by citizens, could become a common practice. Brain Fingerprinting technology can guarantee that no perpetrator would remain unpunished for his crime due to his/her smartness or lack of substantial evidence. In this case, all the necessary crime-related information could be accessible and verified with almost perfect accuracy once a 45-minutes Brain Fingerprinting test is conducted by law enforcement personnel on the suspects. Information such as: identification of ‘Hercules’, the motive behind the murders, how he gets the confidential information about the accused rapists, any involvement of police officers, verification of the testimonies of accused rapists’ family, any known criminal involved, etc., would be easily available to law enforcement personnel to investigate this case in the right direction once the test is completed.

An assigned investigator uploads all the investigative details related to this case and previous cases into the Brain Fingerprinting system protocol. The system records and analyzes the brain responses when case related known and confidential information (called Stimuli) is flashed to the suspect on a digital screen in the forms of pictures, phrases or words and determine with over 99% accuracy what information the suspect possess and trying to conceal from the investigator. Brain Fingerprinting is a user-friendly technology therefore it is easy to operate without necessity of specific knowledge or skills.

Brainwave Science’s Brain Fingerprinting is the only available neuroscience-based technology that has the capability to help Bangladesh law enforcement agencies through such a difficult time by identifying ‘Hercules’ within few hours and further supporting the agencies to provide swift justice to the victims by identifying their perpetrators. Bangladesh Police must try Brain Fingerprinting technology to maintain the faith of citizens on law enforcement agencies and legal system.
