January 21, 2019: UN peacekeepers killed in Mali by Jihadists

SITUATION 10 United Nations Peacekeepers were killed in an attack in which took place in Mali. A terrorist group linked to the Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack. Around 25 other people were injured in the attack. The Sahel region of Africa has been under threat from well-armed Jihadist groups. Even though there was a peace deal in 2015, it did not stop the violence in Mali. The group which claimed responsibility was Nusrat-al-Islam wal Muslimeen. They say that it was in response to the revival of relations with Israel by Chadian President. The attackers have not been identified yet....

SITUATION The residents of Londonderry were shocked after an explosion took place in the city centre on Saturday night. This happened after the police were alerted of a vehicle which was hijacked by three masked men around 11:30 PM. It is believed that the men threw an object in the back of it before abandoning it. January 18, 2019: Bogota explosion: deadly car bomb attack at police academy in Colombia

A car bomb exploded at a heavily guarded police academy in Colombia’s capital on Thursday, killing at least 21 people, wounding dozens and spreading fear about a resurrection of the country’s drug-fueled guerrilla conflict. The scene outside the General Santander police academy after the attack was chaotic. It is considered as the biggest attack against police or military facility in years. SITUATION About 30 to 40 children are believed to have been trafficked within the Detroit Area during the North American Auto Show. On Wednesday, the VICE unit was tipped off about a missing girl.
