February 18, 2019: Haiti: 8 armed foreigners held for national conspiracy

SITUATION Haiti has charged several Americans and other foreign nationals with criminal conspiracy after their arrest with assault rifles and other weapons, the national police said. The group was detained in central Port-au-Prince on Sunday evening and includes five Americans, a Serb, a Russian and a Haitian. There is no indication of the motives of the group. The interrogations are ongoing. The men were detained at a checkpoint near the central bank. February 18, 2019: Mexican cartel targets a Cancun bar, 5 killed

SITUATION Multiple gunmen entered a bar in the Caribbean resort city of Cancun and opened fire on unsuspecting and innocent people. Five people lost their lives and five were injured. This bar, called La Kuka is located on the main avenue in central Cancun. It is 4 miles (6km) away from the seaside tourist hotel zone. February 15, 2019: Malaysian police arrested six accused of planning attack, links to militants

SITUATION   Malaysian police arrested six men, including four foreigners, suspected of planning terror attacks or being the member of militant groups. Two of the suspects are Malaysian nationals while the remaining four are from Singapore, Bangladesh, the Philippines and unnamed South Asian country. According to authorities, the suspects, aged between 21 and 48, were arrested during anti-terror raids between December and January. Police believe most of the arrested suspects were generating funds for the organized attacks or recruiting for the Islamic State (IS), while one suspect was providing shelter to a black-listed terrorist. February 15, 2019: Mozambique’s Debt Scam: Former Intelligence Director Arrested

SITUATION Mozambique’s Debt Scandal has taken a new turn. Antonio Carlos do Rosario, former director of Mozambique’s intelligence unit, was arrested alongside Teofilo Nhangumele, the chairman of state-run Proindicus, Ematum and Mozambique Asset Management, the police source said. At the heart of the debt scandal in Mozambique are the government officials who contracted secret loans from the London branches of banks Credit Suisse and Russia’s VTB bank. SITUATION A former US Air Force special agent and counterintelligence specialist, Monica Elfriede Witt, has been accused of delivering classified defense information to the Iranian government that helped Tehran target her US counterintelligence officers.
